Night was falling over Seattle. The background sounds changed from the roar of rush hour, to the more gentle hum of the night life. A ferry passed in the bay, bound for points unknown. The colorful lights of Seattle began coming on as Mason parked in front of the hotel and got a room.
Mason dropped his suitcase on the stand near the door. The room was the same type of musty perfumed room he had been staying in for the past 40 years, with a few slight variations. “Whoa,” he said, visually counting the many packets.
“Keep them,” she said, sitting by the table and kicking her feet up on the bed. She pushed her shoes off one at a time, with a moan of pleasure.
